If you recall the digging mini-game that took place in Sasa Sanctuary, then you should know what to do here. Dig through sand and use Power Slashes to break the brown blocks, this time steering clear on the black blocks. To get Naguri over the spiked blocks, wait until he's just in front of them to draw a Galestorm brush stroke that'll carry him over the danger. As always, look for small buds that you can Bloom to gain extra time. When you reach the bottom level, follow Naguri around until he stops and starts hammering away at the ground.
Help him dig to unearth the water and earn some praise. Be sure to also stop by the Tool Dealer and buy up the Blinding Snow fishing rod. With the rod in hand, head north to the next section of the city. To the north you'll find Benkei, a man that's searching for a sword to complete his collection.
You'll need the Blinding Snow fishing rod to help out Benkei. Offer him the rod, then speak with Benkei to start fishing. The third fish you hook will be the legendary living sword. Reel it in for three Power Slashes to capture the fish, convincing Benkei to raise the bridge that leads into the city. Further north is a line waiting in front of a large building. You can cut in line and go inside to speak with the priestess Rao. Keep speaking with her until Issun urges you to show off your powers—use a brush technique we used Galestorm to show Rao that Amaterasu is for real.
Rao will say something about needing your help, but then complain that she's missing her Prayer Slips. Continue north into the aristocratic quarter of the city. From here, explore the eastern edge of the city for another passage that leads to a small courtyard with two guards blocking access to the Emperor. Just to the right of these guards is a small crack in the wall, and next to the crack is the set of Prayer Slips Rao is missing.
Grab the Prayer Slips, then head back to Rao's place. Speak with Rao a few times until she asks you to help her out. Agree and she'll ask you to meet her out by the sunken ship at night. Head south, back through the commoners' quarter of Sei-an and out to the Ryoshima Coast.
Go behind it to dig this up in the circle in the ground. Chest 5 - in the shrubs in front of the temple, it has a Stray Bead inside. Chest 6 - by the second house across the bridge, dig this one. Chest 7 - also by the house, it's above ground. House 2 - just a chest in here. After all that, you can't go to the temple, so just go to the right side of the area and into the place where the green mist is coming from.
In here you listen to two guards talk and they mention a Kaguya; for those of you paying attention, this is the girl mentioned by Mr. Talk to each sentry and then go to the right to examine the Prayer Slips and the tiny hole in the wall. Bite the slips and take them back to Rao. She will ask you to help raid the sunken treasure ship, so agree to help the busty babe, and you can't say no to someone with theme music like that!
Now, make your way to the coast, but on your way, stop by the Weapons Dealer to see how close you are to getting the Seven Strike sword. Sell all the treasures you have found, and then sell you lesser slips, and if you push comes to shove, sell all your slips and stuff that you don't need I have only used one item, and had I waited like two mintues, I wouldn't have needed to use that either, so I know you can spare a lot of what you have found.
Do what you can and get that sword, which is weird because you shouldn't have used the other sword for very long. Save and exit the city. After riding a Watersprout platform upwards, turn north to move into the room with the broken bridge. Use your brush to draw in the missing parts of the bridge, then use Inferno to melt the ice across the bridge.
Look out for an alcove on your right containing two skulls and a chest. There's another alcove further along.
Jump up there to avoid a swipe from a giant, disembodied hand and grab a Crystal from the chest. Continue to the next room and climb up a ramp on your left. Keep moving to avoid the hand. Look up to see barrel suspended by a rope and cut it to release the barrel.
Jump onto the barrel, turn round and run to make the barrel drop into the water and move towards some golden hooks. When the barrel is secured, use Wall Jump to get up to the platform and grab the Monkey Statue from the chest. Drop back down into the water and return to the ramp, pressing X to avoid the hands. When you try to cross to the other side, the hands will try to prevent you.
For the first, go over to the right of the platform to avoid the fingers. For the other two, leap over the fingers as they approach.
You're safe once you get to the top of the ramp on the other side. Drop down to find yourself back in the room with a view of the sky. Use Crescent to make it nighttime again. This drains the water and the two barrels balance out. Jump onto the barrel and repeatedly use Holy Eagle to get back into the passageway and the room with the hand. There is now a pulsating mass on the floor which you should avoid.
Go down and jump onto the spiked barrels. Face away from the creature and tap up with the analogue stick to move the spiked barrels over the mass. When you've run it over with both, you will destroy it and earn 50 Praise. Leave the room and go through the passageway to the room with the cannon. There are three X-marked doors on the opposite wall that you need to destroy. Draw a Cherry Bomb on the marker and you will destroy the top one.
Jump up onto the cannon and walk along the barrel to tilt it a little to destroy the middle one. Walk to the end of the barrel and, as the cannon moves downwards, quickly draw a Cherry Bomb to knock out the third door.
Getting the treasures is going to be a test of platforming skill. Use the wall to get into the middle alcove and grab the Pearl from the chest. Grab the Exorcising Arrow from the bottom alcove and eliminate the Lockjaw blocking the way forward. Head up the stairs and use a Prayer Slip to open the door at the top. No Furball on the Menu There is a missable trophy coming up.
If you want it, head back downstairs and use Waterspout on the small pool of water to get back up to the platform with the golden gate. From here, drop down into the treasure room and use double jump on the other side. This will bring you to the stairs leading down to the Origin Mirror, allowing you to save your game. Backtrack through the ship to the cannon room.
Basically, ignore all the golden chests. Go back out of the room for a scene. As you swim ashore, the Water Dragon will start chasing you. This is not too problematic. Simply press X repeatedly while you swim and the dragon shouldn't catch up with you. If you drown, no problem - you'll simply end up on shore where you want to be anyway. The Lucky Mallet will take off by itself. Chase after it and follow it all the way to Rao's audience room. Rao is suitably apologetic. Head out through the back door and continue following the Lucky Mallet through the door to the Imperial Palace.
Go over to the small glowing hole in the wall. You will be required to launch Issun at the chest ahead of you and will receive a Holy Bone S for your trouble. Go forward and save your game at the Origin Mirror. The door on your left is secured by a Lockjaw and Issun points out the Blocking Spider above the path.
Go underneath the archway and jump over the giant foot. Follow the rocky path to stay out of the poisonous water. You will come across two chests. Throw Issun to grab the Godly Charm from the chest in the water. Leap across the gap and open the other chest to receive a Traveler's Charm. When you reach the other side, you will be attacked by a new enemy type, the Thunder Doom Mirror. Use Galestorm to stun it and then wallop it to death.
When it dies, use Power Slash for a floral finisher. Go through the golden gate into a room with a couple of people. Avoid their feet and jump up to the platform in the west.
Cherry Bomb the cracked wall and grab the Exorcism Slip S from the chest in the room beyond. This next bit is horribly designed and fantastically annoying. Make a note of the soldier stamping his feet. Your goal is is stand under the feet and get out of the way as they come down. Eventually, he will walk over to the wall where there's a niche high up.
When he does so, climb onto the little toe of the left foot. As the man raises his foot, double jump to get into the niche.
If you wait too long, you will fall and it is possible to get trapped between the foot and the broom of the other man, taking continuous damage and unable to get out because of the camera. If this happens, you have a recent save to fall back on. Cherry Bomb a crack in the wall and grab the Golden Peach from the chest beyond. Pick up the Exorcising Arrow and backtrack.
On the way a woman in a cell will see you and talk to you. Go through and use Cherry Bomb on the glowing rock to create a hole that you can jump down.
At the bottom, Issun will point out the Platform Spiders that you can use to go from level-to-level. Use the first to get up to a platform with a wilted clover.
After restoring it, jump all the way down to the bottom and use Cherry Bomb to blow open the cracked wall and go through.
