Does anyone still play space marine

If you want a player to be able to experience your game to the fullest, why limit them in this way? Simple solutions to these problems could be something like removing the limits on the appearance and class slots. Also, take note from Dawn of War II and let players upload their own chapter icons.

This allows the player to use their own custom armies Warhammer 40k is a tabletop game, remember, where people paint their own schemes all the time along with any chapter that exists in W40k — no matter how obscure. Exterminatus is a great, challenging PvE mode. Indeed, the vast majority of my time in Space Marine has probably been spent in Exterminatus. So essentially, there are only eight arenas. I think there definitely could be more. Even one more I think could suffice.

There is not else I can think that is wrong with the game-mode. Perhaps some more could have been done in terms of progression — like a few special pieces of armour for playing the co-op Battlefield 3 gave you a few special weapons for completing co-op missions, if I remember rightly.

With the free weekend, there was an influx of new players. When reinstalled the game and hopped on multiplayer, I noticed I had a huge advantage. That was because every weapon comes with a couple of straight up upgrades that are only unlocked after using it I have many unlocked.

This gave me a massive and in many ways unfair advantage against new players who have not yet acquired these upgrades. It cannot be fun for a new player to get trounced by someone who has objectively better gear than you. Not only does a more experienced player have the advantage of experience, they also have the advantage in equipment. How that could be fun and challenging for a new player to get absolutely massacred, is beyond me. My friends who tried the game certainly did not enjoy getting trounced in such a manner.

Certain weapons also seem to be immensely superior. These too are not unlocked until later, leaving new players with positively bad weapons at the start like the default Bolter and such. I think that weapon upgrades should not be a thing. While I like that they change the appearance of the weapon Kraken bolts for the Bolter adds a cool little muzzle decoration thingy , perhaps they could be traits instead.

Like they alter the weapon instead of straight up upgrades. Or, maybe just incorproate the upgrades into the weapon from the start — this then frees up the perk slots to use and thus experiment. Here is a better idea — just like the ability to customise your Space Marines, perhaps there could be visual weapon customisation as well?

You could add iconography from each Space Marine chapter and the like. You can buy special armour sets for a plethora of Space Marine and Chaos chapters, along with a few others including perhaps most scandalously the Chaos version of the Exterminatus mode.

I of course understand a game developer needs money in order to keep improving the game, but Space Marine has not been patched not to my knowledge anyway in years, and who actually buys the DLC? Also given the games relatively low population as of late, I highly doubt there would be enough players to warrant purchasing the DLC anyway. So there are a few issues with Space Marine.

No where near as many as that certain other game I mentioned, but still a few to consider. Vancouver truly is Hollywood North. Their vision was simple: become the world's best RTS studio. From the outset, Relic sought to balance the priorities of people and products while creating the best entertainment software available, a philosophy that still drives us today.

Their initial project was an as-yet-unnamed video game. Relic soon secured a publishing agreement with Sierra Online to develop Homeworld for the PC platform.

Homeworld is released and is recognized as an instant classic. Aptly set in outer space, as it was a true pioneer in PC gaming. It received widespread critical acclaim winning over awards globally including numerous "Game of the Year" awards from several North American gaming publications.

More importantly, it firmly established Relic as an innovator in the world of RTS gaming, and ultimately was the starting point for our ascendancy as a world-class studio. Impossible Creatures released in partnership with Microsoft. A highly personal gaming experience, all armies used in gameplay are created by the player by combining animals and their attributes into powerful monsters. The game also marked a major foray into modding with Impossible Creatures shipping with a powerful yet easy to use set of tools that gave users the freedom to build custom islands and even import their own wild animals that can be used in creature combinations.

An evolutionary progression from the original game, Homeworld 2 continued to demonstrate our prowess in storytelling, benchmark graphics and polished gameplay. With the release of Warhammer 40, Dawn of War, Relic enters a new era and the beginning of our longstanding relationship with Games Workshop. Praised for innovations in resource management and squad-based interface, we continued to challenge the norms for what RTS game is and what it could be.

Warhammer 40, Dawn of War also spawned three well received expansions - Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, Soulstorm which introduced new gameplay designs including the meta map — a feature that is now a mainstay component in all Relic games. To this day, Warhammer 40, Dawn of War is still recognized as one of the best RTS games and the ultimate realization of the Warhammer 40, universe.

This fan favorite franchise has sold more than 7 million copies worldwide. Considered by many to be our signature game, Company of Heroes debuts featuring bold innovations such as squad mechanics with realistic, humanlike behaviour. Company of Heroes has won multiple awards from prominent gaming magazines and sold over 4 million copies worldwide. Two standalone expansions—Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor—have since been released.

Aside from its widespread acclaim and commercial success, the release of Company of Heroes was also notable for being our first game to be built on the Essence Engine — our first major proprietary technology, purpose-built to meet the unique requirements of RTS games. Its stunning breadth of capabilities allowed Relic to fully align its game design and vision. Essence featured next generation graphical effects, High Dynamic Range HDR , dynamic lighting and shadows, advanced shader effects and normal mapping.

Essence is currently in its third version as is the backbone of entire development process. As a sequel, it took the premise of the original while incorporating the ground breaking gameplay features introduced in Company of Heroes. Install Steam. Store Page. Global Achievements.
